Where is the Carolina Tennis School
Camp?
Carolina Tennis School is located in Chapel
Hill, North Carolina on the campus of the University of North Carolina. The camp
itself will be using the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center. Maps have been provided
below to both the courts as well as to the residental dorms at Granville Towers.
Is a middle schooler able to attend
tournament camp?
All of the camps are open to
players of all ages and abilities. Tournament camps are heavily oriented toward
match play. The majority of this camp is comprised of players who are on their
high school tennis teams or have a current USTA or sectional ranking. This camp
emphasizes the tactical and strategical side of tennis and focuses on singles
and doubles match play.
Where do I
check-in?
Overnight Campers will check-in at
Granville Towers. Day campers will check-in at Cone-Kenfield Tennis
Center.
My child has allergies. What are
the dining options at Granville Towers?
Overnight
campers will have all of their meals at Granville Towers. Day campers will eat
lunch at Granville Towers Monday through Wednesday. Please let us know about
your child's dietary concerns via email. We will correspond with the dining
manager at Granville Towers. Also, if necessary, one of camp staff can assist
your child at meal times with the choosing of food options.
What happens if it rains at Summer
Camp, is there a makeup session?
All campers will
resume regular camp activities indoors.
Can a camper leave during
camp?
All campers must remain with the camp at all
times, unless a family member requests to pick-up a camper for a specified
period of time.
What is a typical camp
schedule?
8:30 - 11:30 AM Warm-up,
Instructional Rotations
11:30 AM Lunch/Rest
Period
1:00 - 4:00 PM Drills/Match Play Rotations
What is the cancellation
policy?
For a medical withdrawal, a full credit
will be given for any camp sessions or refund of your application fee minus a
$100 administrative fee.
Are the overnight campers able to
use the pool at Granville Towers?
We do not allow
the campers use the pool due to safety concerns.
What should I bring to
camp?
All Campers
- Tennis shoes (no running or black soled shoes)
- Two racquets, if possible
- Grip tape or string (optional)
- Sun protection - visor or baseball cap and sunscreen
- Court towels
- Extra t-shirts and socks
- Snack/souvenir money
- Water bottle or small jug
Overnight Campers Only
- Bed linens (for Twin XL bed), light blanket, pillow
- Toiletry items
- Casual clothing and shoes for evening activities
- Spending money for bowling and shopping
- Alarm clock/watch
- Clean tennis clothes for five days
